According to property portal Zoopla, the number of sellers who are dropping the price of their property has increased to one in three. This has climbed from 27 per cent in February, and is the highest total recorded for the UK property market at any time since August 2012.
The average amount that people are having to discount their home to find a buyer has also increased. Now, the average seller is having to knock 6.7 per cent off the price, amounting to just under £25,000, compared to just 6.3 per cent in February, which was around the £20,000 mark.

The property market typically slows in December as buyers postpone their plans until the New Year and become pre-occupied with the festive season, but these figures suggest that sellers may be being forced to rest their expectations and become more realistic in order to secure a buyer. People are well attuned to a bargain at this time of year, so homebuyers may want to capitalise on the latest raft of reductions.
