Mortgage Lending Rises in December
Mortgage lending was up in December, by 14% on the previous month, a move described as 'surprisingly strong' by some commentators. This was up 3% on December 2008.There was a large rise in completions in the month, perhaps as people tried to beat the end of the stamp duty 'holiday'
